Phoenix Merinos

Three Wellwood daughter studs and Wellwood have come together to form a new ram-selling group called Phoenix Merinos.

For ‘Balance and Quality’ you don’t get better.

The three daughter studs are all leading Karoo Merino farmers in the Karoo from the Graaff-Reinet and Murraysburg districts. They have bought Wellwood Merino rams over many decades, and started buying as a group in 2012.

The Wellwood stud in the Graaff-Reinet district is home to one of the oldest and most respected Merino studs in South Africa. Wellwood is a member of Phoenix Merinos and will also continue with its own sales.

“Our aim, as a Wellwood daughter stud, is to live up to the Wellwood tradition of absolute quality, hence our motto 'Balance & Quality'.

We are confident that all farmers looking for Merino rams will be able to purchase extremely good rams at a very competitive price at our auction. Over and above this, we would also like you to come and enjoy our auctions and the hospitality of Phoenix Merinos.”
