Phoenix Merinos Rams

Phoenix Merinos is breeding from several of Wellwood’s outstanding sires, including Sir Richard, Goliath, Biggs, Breebors, 62, Gadaffi and Dries. The members do Artificial Insemination (AI) or laparoscopy on their stud ewes.

“We are extremely fortunate to have the full support of Robert Rubidge who will also be putting rams on our auctions. At the same time he will continue with his own sales at the national auction and on his farm,” says Johann.

One of the first Wellwood sires the group bought together was Sir Richard in 2012 for R190 00 on the national sale, which is the highest price that Robert Rubidge has achieved to date for a ram.

Sir Richard is a special animal with magnificent wool, a wonderful attitude and very good conformation.
